sons diary is a daily blog about the trials and tribulations of supporting a football team who have fallen from the heady heights of the scottish top tier of football to third bottom of the 3rd division in 23 years. After a short sojourn in the first division mid 80s in which season the manager jim fallon made the “observer” sports monthly in the top ten worst managers ever ,we have been on a continuing spiral downwards. we moved from our old stadium -which was at one time nicknamed fatal boghead because of giant killing acts -to a brand spanking new home quaintly called strathclyde homes stadium.there is a certain irony about this as homes are getting ever closer with new build houses within 100yards of the ground
this coming season we have a full time manager Jim Chapman who unlike previous managers has signed a whole new team before he went on holiday
can we therefore look forward to season 2008-09 with a bit more optimism
I would say yes but we still have the old failings of a them and us attitude between board and fans
we have a very influential supporters trust who are doing sterling work to bring club attiutdes into the 21st century and to a certain extent are succeeding
lets hear from any fans about their club particularly small clubs as Iknow from supporters direct that a fair number are now owned by the fans most notably stockport county who were recently promoted to the 2n di –I refuse to call it the championship its still the 2nd div to me
lets hear from you
this is the first time Ihave ventured into blogland so please help
smaller than Bobby McCulley?!?!? A man who looked up to the corner flag when he took a corner! Shurely not
